Betty Brown, the President of the Long Jetty Over 50s Club, was extremely pleased to receive an Apple laptop and 75” 4k HDR Smart LED Screen for the Camera Club – donated by Freemasons on the Central Coast (FotCC).

Earlier this year, a gentleman named David popped into our club to make some general enquiries. This led to his introduction to Ken Page, the President of the Camera Club. Ken described the club, its members, history, philosophy and equipment.

For discussion, evaluation and critiquing purposes everyone would show their photos on the old TV screen. The amount of different cables to connect everyone’s camera directly to the screen was proving very difficult so one of the members brought in their personal laptop to make life a bit easier. All images were loaded onto the laptop and connected to the TV via a HDMI cable. This system worked slightly better but wasn’t without issues and took quite some time to set up each week, and if the member with the laptop couldn’t make it to the meeting, it all fell apart.

With membership increasing, the set-up and viewing became even more troublesome; David suggested that they apply to FotCC for support. The purchase of a dedicated laptop for the club and a larger 4k screen would solve most of the problems.

The new equipment has the added bonus of not needing a cable to the large screen and with better photo editing software the club is now able to assist its members by adjusting and cropping photographs as well as displaying them.

The Long Jetty Over 50s Club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers and all were very grateful for the community support received. The members sincerely thanked the Freemasons on the Central Coast for their support by providing a scrumptious morning tea.
